A platform moving stablecoins runs two kinds of orders. Some need a different stablecoin on the same chain, others need the same balance somewhere else. Most platforms end up pricing those two differently: the bridge on known terms, and the conversion at whatever the venue gives them at the moment it executes.
Transit is stablecoin conversion infrastructure for the platforms where stablecoins accumulate: exchanges, wallets, treasuries, fintechs and protocols. The first release solved for movement between chains. As of this release, same-chain conversion is now live, which puts both kinds of orders behind one integration and one pricing model.
What this changes
A platform whose users arrive in one dollar and whose positions settle in another can now convert in a single call, without buffering for slippage on the way in. A router sourcing the conversion from a pool can quote it directly from Transit instead, which matters most at the sizes where pool pricing gets expensive.
Transit launched with the cross-chain half because that is the version platforms hit first. Same-chain is the same job with the source and destination set to the same chain.
What is live today
Same-chain conversion is live on Ethereum mainnet, and it is on by default for platforms already integrated with Transit. The routes appear in the route list with no new build, new keys or migration.
The current route list lives in the docs, and it is growing. If there is a specific pair or a chain you're looking to support, reach out to the team at support@paxoslabs.com.
Why predictable pricing matters
A same-chain conversion buys nothing but the conversion. There is no chain to cross, so what the fill costs is the whole difference between one venue and another.
Sourced from a pool, that cost stays unknown until the order runs. Sourced from a solver network, the quote is firm but it thins as the order grows, and at real size it may not come back at all. Either way, the same conversion has two different answers at $500 and at $50 million.
The uncertainty gets absorbed somewhere. Either the platform pads its own quote so its user covers the worst case, or it holds the number and takes the variance out of its own margin. The effect is largest on the largest orders.
The rate Transit quotes is the rate you get, and it holds at any size. Conversions run around the clock, including the nights and weekends when issuer mint and redeem windows are closed.
